#ALLIEDINART

Since I used to work in the marketing department of Greenville's premiere downtown theatre, I was asked to help them with a unique project. COVID had hit the organization hard, forcing them to cancel all shows, furlough 70% of their staff and rely solely on donors to keep the lights on. Yet, when the Black Lives Matter movement started up to protest on-going police brutality and violence, this struggling nonprofit still wanted to show their support. With the front facade of the main theatre available to us, we had to figure out a way to make a statement without spending too much money.

The Peace Center has been a staple of Greenville, SC since 1989, and with their history supporting artist of color, we decided to pull together quotes, lyrics and lines written and performed by these artists on Peace Center stages and create a poster series celebrating their words. The giant posters and the larger-than-life people they feature are a great reminder to the city that hate is not welcome here and art is an amazing way to pull people together.
